Brain Vomit

Just ask Jethro

do you always wear your hair like that?
who ever wrote it would have to meticulously study mackenzie for weeks?
chasing for a dollar, diving, sliding. stomped under foot.
we see here that, immediately, we come upon the forty day fast
this goes fundamentally, goes to directly to the heart

you favorites, and something new. escape to montana's
it's all coming together exactly as i planned
nothing ventured, nothing gained,
energy-rich pockets

kneeling down and placing you head on the ground
still has it though, passed, saved, shot it wide
satisfaction or your money back, what do i do here?
i'm gunna start my life all over again, well then!
you haven't gotten very far, that's where you were an hour ago

repeat, we've got a hostage situation here
jab to the face, punch to the gut
but he always gave him power, commission, and authority
canadiens pick up right where they left off

Marley & Me

True companionship is rarely experienced. The bond between a man and a dog is built on unconditional love. Which is good for a free-spirited dog like Marley. Holding to his namesake of artist Bob Marley this hound has a love knows no bounds. Life is a struggle with ourselves, accepting our own mortality. This film shows that family extends beyond humans and embraces all life.

John Grogan (Owen Wilson) is unsure what he wants out of life, but he knows what he has is good. After marrying Jenny (Jennifer Aniston) he hope to stall her "biological clock" by buying her a Labrador. In his mind it's better to be a 'master' than a 'father'. But he soon realizes that life doesn't stop and puppy's become dogs.

Adapted from the autobiography of journalist John Grogan the film find nuzzles it way into your heart. Life never turns out the way we plan. But as Jenny says, "I've given up so much of what made me who I am." But, it's a matter of accepting the choices that make-up our life. Love is able accept the good and the bad. That's why Marley and Me makes for a classic family film. It shows that life is simply the day in/day out and that time is relative.

Utilitarian Dilemma

Do we give rise to the gods within?
Or aim towards the muck like swine?
Should one frolic as a grasshopper?
Or toil like the mighty marching ant?

Do spring rain showers hold hope?
Or has winter frozen all the faith?
Should one become a prodigal son?
Or strike out to find his own fate?

Do people hold the answer to life?
Or is the question with the true self?
Should conclusions be drawn now?
Or will the experiment still run?

If the myth is busted,
Then reality must be substituted.

The Agonist - Lullabies for the Dormant Mind

Like a cornucopia Montreal scene continues to provide. Metal darling The Agonist releases its sophomore album to attentive ears, who only found the band after the eyes spotted female vocalist Alissa White-Gluz. This beautiful barking bitch is declared in 2007 as one of the "Hottest Chicks in Metal" by Revolver magazine, she's definitely a head turner.

Putting aside lesbian fantasies of Angela Gassow and Amy Lee hooking up, the outfit is a heavenly cross between Arch Enemy and Evanesence. Alissa soars beyond Amy Lee her predecessors ranges, listen to the a capella song 'Swan Lake'. But, stands toe to toe with Mistress Gassow.

The band is not obscured by the singers shadow. Songs boarder on being riff-salads, but catchy hooks and dips keep it fresh. Through breakdowns and solos each members displays his talent in full. If 'Birds Elope with the Sun' rises the guitars to the sky, then 'When the Bough Breaks' brings them to a crushing fall.

The album imagery hearkens to chilling winters of the northern wold of Canada. 'Waiting out the Winter' expresses the true harshness of the long and terrible season. However, the technical precision and layered vocals leaves one to wonder they can hold up live.

The Agonist will open for The Haunted at the Opera House this April 15th. Before them is another female fronted act BloodShotEye from Leamington in southern Ontario. JessicKa can bark like the best and has the body to boot. May the metal wenches rise!

It Must be Thursday

Hitching a ride on the spiraling arm;
On nothingth dot on a nothingth point;
Searching for a forgotten question;
To a mutually exclusive answer.

The repeating pattern permeates;
Space/Time continuum bends too;
Consciousness reflects back forward;
On variables within the formula.

Digitized analog wavelengths a brain;
Surfing outer pangalactic dimensions;
Is existential psychonaut twidledeedum;
Lost in the outback on planet primate.

Future abyss locked on pupils;
Dilating expansion reveals cracks;
Interframework breakdown goes;
Doublespin awash in acidic bleach.

Realtime strategies call to arms;
Defeating mutant floods encircling;
Halo hangs over prophetic relic;
Saving hero from dishonor.

Lamb of God - Wrath

These ole Virginian's are over-powering the mainstream with 'Wrath'. The group's sixth studio album sold over 68,000 copies slotting them at number two on the Billboard 200 Charts its release week.

"The Passing" instrumental intro fades into album that points the middle finger both at society and the individual. LoG continues its attack on the alienation created by hypocritical political action. Randy Blythe, refusing to submit to clean vocals, reaches a new level of clarity on this disc.

The group unleashes its best aspects through a harnessed and more unified sound. The 'Wrath' is full of the fury from the guys early days, has the swagger of their rise and the technicality of their prime.

Lamb of God will establish themselves as a landmark in North American metal history on the "No Fear Energy Drink" sponsored tour this summer. Riding the breaking edge of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal LoG are the voice of resentment in a technocratic society.
